Forest School week 4
A very windy Forest School this week! The children had a fantastic time using the saws to cut 'cookies' out of wood to decorate. We also talked about how to use the equipment safely (hence not many photos of this!). The children spent some time by the pond, again, discussing how to be safe near water and using the 'respect' position to pond dip safely. Someone even found a fish! The children absolutely love den building and having some exploring time. This week I noticed how much they were working well as a team and they have created some fantastic dens despite the wind not helping! Someone even created a time machine where Mrs English went back to the Stone Age :-) . Enjoy!
Topic!
For our Topic work 'How does the human body work?' we have been learning all about bones and their function. We carried out three practical's focusing on how we need bones for movement, protection and support. Take a look!
Forest School Week 3
This week the children learnt about fire safety (you may have smelt the evidence of this!) and we also had the chance to roast some marshmallows using the 'respect' position Mrs Manion taught us. Afterwards, we had a go at using found objects to make our very own volcano! The children loved this task. It was really nice to see them collecting suitable objects to support the volcano, communicating and working as a team with each other. After the fire had been safely put out the children then had a go at making fire for themselves! Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any photos of this as I was supervising with Mrs Manion! No one lit the cotton wool this time (including me and Mrs Manion) but never mind! Enjoy!
Forest School Week 2
A very muddy week two! I wish the photos would capture the laugher that was heard this week. The children had so much fun learning about wassailing and waking up the trees for spring. They made 'sprites' and played games of hide and seek, symbolising new growth of the trees. The children also 'warmed the trees up' by giving them woolly jumpers in preparation for spring creating colourful patterns. During exploring time there were football pitches made, armchairs made and even a little nook in a tree which was a new home for the sprites made earlier. So much imagination, laughter and memories made. Enjoy!
Forest School Week 1
We had a fantastic start to our Forest School learning this week! The children made hedgehogs, incorporating things they found in the environment to add details and they used the Christmas tree donations to build dens; one had five rooms! As well as all of that, the children spent some time by the pond, talking about being safe around frozen water and they even had a close up look at some ice that had formed. All topped of with a deliciously warm drink and some games! Enjoy!
TOPIC WOW! - How does the human body work?
We had a fantastic introduction to our new Topic earlier this week! We sketched real life bones and discussed what body part we though the body was from, we investigated organs and labelled them as well as on 'Bob the skeleton,' our new 'temporary' class member, as well as checking out some toothy fun facts! Someone even tried to put the bones back together! Take a look! Enjoy!
Year 3 Christmas 2024!
Exploring rocks and their properties!
The children carried out several investigations finding out if certain rocks were permeable, durable, how hard or soft they were and their density. The classroom was busy with activities and we had many wow moments! Enjoy!
Topic WOW!
As an introduction to our new Topic 'What makes the earth move?' - we bult our own volcanos and erupted them! We talked about which way the 'lava flow' was travelling and what impact the eruption may have on people living nearby.

Art Week!
We have had lots of fun and 'extreme concentration' this week during our Art days of drawing! Take a look at your child's fantastic work. Our aim was to draw out facial features using accurate proportions and measurements as well as including interesting textures to add detail. The have all done so well!
Our final week of Forest School for this term!
Check out a few photos from our last session with Mrs Manion and Mrs English for this term. We have enjoyed the last few weeks so much and the children have learnt so much.
Enjoy!
Forest School Week Four!
We had a fantastic afternoon this week! First, we had a go at starting a fire (under supervision!), the children had a great go at striking and created a lot of sparks but unfortunately only Mrs Manion was able to light the cotton wool that we were having a go with! Next, and the most delicious bit, we roasted apple on the fire and dipped it in a sugar and cinnamon mix....absolutely amazing - please try it if you can! The second group worked with Mrs English, hunting woolly mammoths, building dens and imagining what life would be like as a Stone Age human! Our Forest school sessions have all be focused on our Topic work which has been amazing for our learning, making lasting memories!!!
I hope you enjoy taking a look at some snaps from the afternoon!
